Voucher Not Redeeming

You bought a voucher, you have typed the PIN, and the cashier will not take it. There are four causes, and knowing which one you have determines who can actually help — because for two of them the casino cannot do anything, and going to the right party first saves days.

1. It says already redeemed

The PIN has been spent. If it was not you, the slip may have been compromised before you received it — a photographed or recorded PIN at the point of sale is the usual explanation.

The casino cannot help with this one. The value was spent somewhere else, not on your account, so there is nothing on their side to recover. Take the slip and your purchase receipt to the voucher issuer, who can trace where and when it was redeemed. Do it quickly — traces get harder with time.

2. The characters are being misread

Before assuming anything is wrong, retype it slowly. The usual suspects are 0 and O, 1 and I, 5 and S, and 8 and B.

Thermal slips fade quickly, particularly from a Kazang terminal, and a partially faded digit is easy to guess wrong. If the slip is fresh, photograph it now — the photo will outlast the print.

3. It is the wrong voucher type

Voucher brands are not interchangeable. A 1Voucher PIN will not redeem in the OTT, Blu or EasyLoad field, and vice versa. Check you have selected the matching brand in the cashier.

4. You bought airtime

The most common mistake of all, and the one nobody expects. Several voucher brands are better known as airtime products, EasyLoad especially. Airtime cannot be redeemed as a deposit — no amount of retrying will change that.

It is not lost. It is airtime and it will load onto a phone. But it will never credit a betting balance, so the fix is to use it as airtime and buy the right product next time. At the till, ask specifically for a voucher and check the slip before you leave.

Protecting yourself next time

  • Photograph the slip at the counter, before you leave.
  • Check the printed amount against the cash you handed over.
  • Keep the slip until the balance has actually moved, not just until you have typed it.
  • Redeem promptly — an unredeemed PIN sitting in a wallet is a PIN at risk.

Frequently asked questions

My voucher says already redeemed but I never used it. What now?

The PIN was spent elsewhere, possibly compromised at the point of sale. The casino cannot recover it because the value never reached your account. Take the slip and purchase receipt to the voucher issuer, who can trace the redemption.

Can the casino refund a voucher that will not work?

Not if the value was redeemed somewhere else — there is nothing on their side to refund. The voucher issuer is the party that can trace and resolve it, which is why going to them first saves time.

Why will my EasyLoad voucher not redeem?

Most often because it is airtime rather than a voucher. Several brands are better known as airtime products, and airtime cannot be used as a deposit. Ask specifically for a voucher at the till and check the slip before leaving.

How do I avoid this happening again?

Photograph the slip at the counter, check the printed amount against what you paid, keep the slip until the balance actually moves, and redeem promptly. An unredeemed PIN sitting in a wallet is a PIN at risk.
