Wagering Requirements

Multiply the bonus by the wagering multiple. That is the total value of bets you must place.

A R500 bonus at 40x means R20,000 in bets before the balance is yours. Not R20,000 of losses — R20,000 of turnover, which is a very different and much more achievable thing, since the same money is bet repeatedly as you win and lose along the way.

Check one detail: whether the multiple applies to the bonus alone or to deposit plus bonus. On a matched deposit that difference doubles the work, and it is stated in the terms rather than the headline.

Not every game counts equally toward wagering, and this catches more people than the multiple itself.

Slots typically contribute 100% — R100 bet counts as R100 wagered. Table games, live dealer games and video poker often contribute far less, sometimes 10% or nothing at all.

At 10% contribution, that R20,000 requirement becomes R200,000 of actual betting on those games. A bonus that looks clearable on slots can be effectively impossible on blackjack. Read the contribution table before choosing where to play it through.

This is the one that hurts. Most bonuses cap the stake you may place while wagering — a per-spin or per-hand maximum.

Breach it, even once, even accidentally, and the operator may void the bonus and everything won with it. Not warn you, not pause it — void it, after you have done the work.

The cap is usually modest and it is easy to exceed without noticing, particularly if you change stake mid-session or use a bonus buy. Find the number before you start and stay under it.

• Time limit — wagering usually expires, often within days.
• Maximum withdrawal — many bonuses cap what you can take out regardless of what you win.
• Excluded games — some titles do not count at all.
• No withdrawals while active — your own deposit is locked too.
